Jeremy and I are going to Ireland for our honeymoon! We'll be driving from Dublin to Shannon over 7 days and staying in B&Bs along the way! Yay! Finally get to use my passport again!

Jul 22, 2008, 11:52 am
Amazing.

Jul 5, 2008, 9:56 pm
We're moved in! Still lots of unpacking to do, but I cooked my first meal in our awesome kitchen tonight and we enjoyed the pool again today! We even had fireworks that we could see right from our porch!

Jul 2, 2008, 4:55 pm
We're homeowners!!! We closed Monday and can't wait to start living there!

May 28, 2008, 1:02 pm
We sign our purchase and sale tomorrow!

May 19, 2008, 7:33 pm
Jeremy and I are going to be homeowners! Our offer was accepted today! What a beautiful house. I can't believe it's going to be ours.:)

Mar 17, 2008, 8:57 am
We have a wedding location and date! Jeremy and I are getting married Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at The Harrington Farm in Princeton MA!

Mar 11, 2008, 9:08 am
I am fascinated. The Really Terrible Orchestra is dedicated to giving poor musicians a chance to enjoy public ensemble playing with no shame.

Mar 5, 2008, 11:00 pm
I designed our wedding web site today! It will be updated as we have more info.

Feb 12, 2008, 9:28 am
Jeremy and I got engaged Sunday, Feb. 10!

Oct 23, 2007, 10:56 pm
Just got PHP enabled in my Mac OS X Apache web server, but my old blog files won't seem to work. They're throwing a permissions error. It's times like these I wished I was more of a developer and understood the back end of this stuff.

Oct 14, 2007, 1:52 pm
I just bought and downloaded the new Radiohead album online from Radiohead.com. They're trying this new thing where they release their album themselves without a label so they take all the profits. You pay whatever you think the album is worth. I'd rather pay $10 straight to a band I like than $10 to iTunes or a record label and better support a band I love.

Sep 19, 2007, 11:24 pm
First MWS rehearsal of the year. My god it was fun. This is going to be a fantastic year!

Jul 23, 2007, 9:46 pm
Moo Cards make great business cards for very little money. I saw them and had to have a set.

Jul 19, 2007, 12:10 am
This was the best birthday ever! I had the best surprise party Sunday and I spent today with Jeremy camera shopping and hanging out in Portsmouth. It's HP night Friday and I have 2 more parties this weekend! I'm so excited I could pee.

Jul 15, 2007, 6:15 pm
I don't know why, but I really love The Kitty Cat Song on YouTube. I think I've found my new ringtone.

Jul 11, 2007, 7:52 pm
I got myself a pro Flickr account. Please sign up and be one of my contacts if I know you.

Jun 23, 2007, 8:53 pm
I can't believe it. I sneezed in the car on the way to my recital today and pulled a muscle in my back. I haven't been able to stand up straight since. It sucks.

Apr 30, 2007, 9:02 pm
Hiked to Tuckerman Ravine this weekend and then had a lazy Sunday. Enjoying life these days!

Apr 1, 2007, 6:44 pm
Another incredible weekend! It's only been 1 month (today!) since I met Jeremy and things are fantastic. :) I've never been so happy.

Mar 22, 2007, 8:28 pm
I took another snowboarding lesson the week after the first one and I am much improved! I bought equipment and I'm loving it! Here's the video of my fourth day of snowboarding.

Mar 6, 2007, 7:19 pm
I learned to snowboard yesterday up at Loon. I'm glad I did it, but it's definitely harder than I expected. Being a long-time skiier doesn't guarantee that you'll pick up snowboarding quickly. I got a little cocky after lunch and tried some of the more difficult terrain. Bad idea.Mar 22, 2007, 8:28 pm

Feb 12, 2007, 9:17 am
Excellent news! Cousins from Sweden are visiting Boston in June or July! I can't wait to give the tour!!!!!

Feb 1, 2007, 1:42 pm
Eeeeeh! Harry Potter book 7 comes out July 21st! That makes the ultimate birthday month for me because the 5th movie comes out on July 13 as well!

Jan 25, 2007, 1:57 pm
I would love to get one of these Holga Bitch tshirts.

Jan 21, 2007, 6:01 pm
Perfect end to the weekend. Excellent trios with good musicians!

Jan 18, 2007, 2:56 pm
The day has finally arrived! I get my very own office!!!!! I thought this would never happen. It's quite spacious with a wrap around desk area and lots of shelves for storage. I'm already thinking about getting some large IKEA frames and hanging some photos to really make it my own.

Jan 14, 2007, 10:18 pm
I can't believe our country ever put this fucktard into office. It's not our war. It's all his. He has never been a representative of the American people and it angers me to no end.

Jan 13, 2007, 10:18 am
I thought they were kidding about the existence of Tickle Me Elmo Extreme on NPR. It's actually kind of freaky when he turns over and starts slapping the floor.

Jan 9, 2007, 3:48 pm
Now my pink Motorola Razr doesn't seem nearly so cool. Apple came out with the most beautiful cell phone/PDA yet. Behold the iPhone.

Jan 7, 2007, 10:48 pm
Had a fantastic recital today! First time in 5 years I think! On another musical note, a couple of girls I know from college launched the web site for their new string shop in Westford: Bridges and Bows

Jan 1, 2007, 11:19 pm
I am the biggest loser for having watched a large percentage of The Biggest Loser marathon on Bravo today.

Dec 23, 2006, 6:05 pm
I don't know what happened to me this year. I like purses and babies. I got myself a little present today....a purse, not a baby. :)

Dec 15, 2006, 9:33 am
Ever remember being scared to sit in Santa's lap when you were a kid? Here's a great gallery of photos.

Dec 6, 2006, 2:49 am
Mark Day has a podcast called For Parody Purposes Only. I don't know if it's funny because of what he has to say (all the Bush and Britney Spears bashing) or the fact that he says it all with a thick Scottish accent.

Dec 4, 2006, 11:00 am
Microsoft's Zune crashes and burns. Why am I not surprised? Apple iPod is still the best!

Nov 27, 2006, 10:24 am
Ugg. Monday morning post-Thanksgiving migraine. Nice. I thought I caught it in time, but I guess not.

Nov 20, 2006, 3:07 pm
Awesome concert yesterday! I can't remember the last time I had that much fun preparing for and playing a concert. We've come a long way in 9 weeks. I'm so proud of us!

Nov 13, 2006, 3:26 pm
You have to be kidding me. Naked man arrested for concealed weapon. This reads like an Onion article, but it's actually true.

Nov 9, 2006, 8:57 am
I'm really excited about my November 19th Metropolitan Wind Symphony concert! Rehearsal was awesome last night. We're starting to sound really good.

Nov 3, 2006, 11:11 am
Stephanie and I are starting to plan our Iceland/Norway trip (now next Thanksgiving) and I'm even more pysched looking at all the Iceland photos I'm finding. I would love to do a jeep tour!

Nov 3, 2006, 8:41 am
The web site for Johnson String Instruments has an audio interview with this mostly self-taught 9 year old violinist. He loves Celtic and Cape Breton style playing and makes up most of his tunes on the spot. Amazing.

Nov 2, 2006, 11:21 am
I have more critters running around in my attic. I woke up at 3AM to hear something scratching above my head. It sounded like it was trying to claw its way right through the ceiling. I can't sleep with that shit going on, but I hate the thought of going up in the attic to set traps. God knows what I'm going to find.

Oct 31, 2006, 3:13 pm
I bought LocoRoco for my PSP and I'm obsessed with its whimsy and yummy graphics. I am pleasantly surprised by how cool it is. I don't think I've ever played a game quite like it on any console.

Oct 23, 2006, 9:47 am
It makes my blood boil just reading this article from a lawyer who is so anti-Mac it's disgusting. Most of his claims are completely false and uneducated. You can't always dumb down stuff enough for the dumbest of the dumb.

Oct 20, 2006, 9:49 am
Mom - if you're reading this, you need to sign up for Monkey On Your Back. It's an online reminder service. Now you can stop leaving lists of chores in Dad's wallet.

Oct 19, 2006, 1:44 pm
Last week Phil suggested we spice up the weekly Media Services meetings. Phil found pesticide safety bingo and we're going to play. This of course led to a discussion about making our own J&B trivia bingo. Lots of laughs. The possibilities are endless.

Oct 18, 2006, 1:57 pm
I thought this day would never come. I have passed on the responsibility of making door signs. I will miss those highest priority emails from the front desk. :)

Oct 13, 2006, 10:44 am
Does it bother anyone else that Callie on Grey's Anatomy kind of looks like a man? She's so.....manly. What is she doing hooking up with McSteamy? She's too much man for him. :)

Oct 9, 2006, 3:21 pm
I attended the open studios at ArtSpace Maynard with a friend yesterday. Some of the stuff was quite good while some of it was just plain weird. It's been awhile since I've toured studios and seen things "in progress." My favorite was the woman who painted large-scale baby portraits. The coloring was so weird that all of the babies looked dead. One was so white, I titled it, "Baby left in the freezer overnight." Morbid.

Oct 8, 2006, 9:55 am
I've always liked Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, but I like him even more after seeing the clip where he insults a crowd of Star Wars fans.

Oct 1, 2006, 10:25 pm
Went bowling tonight and learned how to play pool afterwards. I had a fabulous teacher. :)

Oct 1, 2006, 11:25 am
Visited the New England Aquarium yesterday with Steve, Kristina, and Guinevere. I captured some interesting commentary by a young child.

Sep 22, 2006, 15:37 pm
Looking forward to a weekend of live music, possible bow shopping, brunch, and relaxation after a very long and stressful week.

Sep 21, 2006, 9:40 pm
I really missed The Office and Grey's Anatomy. They hit the spot today.

Sep 19, 2006, 11:16 am
Hahaha! This man was mistakenly arrested for issuing a bomb threat to airport security when really he was trying to conceal a marital aid (from his mother in line with him). "Pump" and "bomb" sort of sound the same when said with a thick Arabic accent. :)

Sep 15, 2006, 12:34 pm
I heard a rumor that one of my favorite flutist/composers may be visiting my music school this fall and giving a recital and masterclass. How odd, since I just walked into my first lesson not knowing that and wanting to work on some of her pieces. How long has it been since I did a masterclass? Looking forward to the challenge.

Aug 31, 2006, 10:01 am
Vacation has been productive so far. I wish I could say I've been sitting on my ass doing nothing. Why does it seem like my house is never totally clean there are always phone calls to make and errands to run? Looking forward to my big party Sunday. I'll be forced to relax then.

Aug 22, 2006, 9:33 am
I have finally reached the point of online dating. Trying to give fate a push.

Aug 18, 2006, 9:28 am
I always ignore those red flags and hope this one is the exception to the rule. I see the good and ignore the bad. Then I pay for it. When will I learn? How do I find a balance?

Aug 11, 2006, 8:55 am
Going to Disney World for a week in Feb! It's officially booked! Very excited!

Jul 28, 2006, 9:33 pm
I thought I ruined my brand new 2GB memory card for my PSP but luckily found an online article saying to reset the PSP system so it would recognize the memory stick once again. It worked!

Jul 13, 2006, 5:11 pm
Can't wait to get my new pink Motorola Razr V3 phone! This site has documentation on how to set up your Mac to transfer files from your computer to your phone and vice versa.

Jul 11, 2006, 4:28 pm
Had a fun extra long weekend camping at Hickory Run in PA. Highlights included the very large boulder field potentially full of rattlesnakes, 2 screaming little girls at a nearby camp site, walking for 10 miles to see ALL the sites, kicking ass at scrabble, and almost losing my bathing suit bottom at the pool at Central Oak Heights Sunday. Note to self: NEVER wear a 2-piece when diving.

Jun 30, 2006, 9:24 am
I am completely set on skydiving this summer. I've always wanted to. This place gets pretty good reviews.

Jun 28, 2006, 10:38 am
Matt Silas has some cool short films.

Jun 20, 2006, 2:09 pm
I thought one of the speakers on my practically brand new iBook was dead, but I figured out it's due to an OSX software glitch thanks to this post.

Jun 16, 2006, 9:16 am
Todd sent me a link to the Dr. Tran short film and it was shockingly funny at times. You have to watch the whole thing.

Jun 14, 2006, 4:36 pm
A great video site: Break.com. Much like YouTube.com but I actually have the patience to skim through it.

Jun 9, 2006, 5:11 pm
So much news today. My friend Steve from UML has his video game releasing next week!

Jun 9, 2006, 1:49 pm
Dirty dinnerware by James Victore and Pierre Charpin.

Jun 9, 2006, 1:04 pm
If you found a cell phone in a taxi, would you return it to the owner? This stupid 16 year old didn't return the Sidekick she found and now she and her family are being pubicly humiliated until it is returned.

Jun 8, 2006, 4:44 pm
The interesting home page of Chris Glass found via Coudal.com.

Jun 8, 2006, 1:17 pm
I love this new Sony Bravia commercial and the song in the background.

May 29, 2006, 7:04 pm
This guy could have been our guest soloist for the William Tell Overture at the last MWS concert.

May 25, 2006, 4:21 pm
And here I thought hacky sack..ahem Foot Bag...was for those grunge kids in high school during lunch period. If you're good enough, you can compete at worlds. This is some crazy shit.

May 23, 2006, 3:22 pm
I found a cool site today via the RocketBoom daily vlog: artist Lilly McElroy has some great performance videos and photography. I especially liked I Throw Myself at Men, Pushing Cowboys, and Hugs.

May 22, 2006, 12:10 pm
Leave it Apple to be the first computer protected by anti-theft software. I especially love the part where it can automatically take a picture of the thief with the built-in iSight and collect it for evidence.

May 17, 2006, 10:49 am
This guy (and his friend in the background) put Elaine from Seinfeld's dance moves to shame.

May 6, 2006, 9:43 am
Every Saturday when it's nice out and school is in session, I wake up to teenagers screaming outside my window starting at 9:30 AM on the dot. Kill me now.

May 1, 2006, 10:23 pm
When trying to get Virtual PC 6 running Windows 98 on Tiger to connect AND load web pages in IE, this is the one and only support article that actually worked for me. I hope others find this helpful.

Apr 25, 2006, 4:38 pm
I am going to be getting cozy with Adobe InDesign as I learn all about using an XML content workflow. If this doesn't get me to break up with Quark, I don't know what will.

Apr 21, 2006, 11:54 am
Zefrank has always had some great content on his site. Now he's doing video blogging. It's hilarious.

Apr 20, 2006, 10:39 am
Spring cleaning is a funny thing. I'm finding stuff I completely forgot about like these goals I wrote last year at a really bad time. I've actually accomplished some of them now.

Apr 17, 2006, 9:10 am
Details like accurate dimensions escape some people. I should have seen this coming. Can I go home now?

Apr 13, 2006, 3:11 pm
Thank you Bret for the Overheard in Boston link. "He was wondering why I broke up with him. And I was like...because you didn't come visit me in the hospital after I got hit by a car."

Apr 7, 2006, 9:01 am
On WBCN this morning, they were talking about PostSecret.com. My favorite was the Starbucks employee who sent his secret on a Starbucks cup that said, "I give decaf to customers who are rude to me."

Apr 4, 2006, 11:53 am
After a very long wait, my Eric Whitacre CD of a capella works has finally arrived. It's divine as expected.

Apr 1, 2006, 10:21 pm
I got an incredible experience at the 2006 World Men's Curling Championship today by volunteering with my friend Steph. My 2 favorites were USA and of course Sweden. Now that someone has explained to me exactly how the game works, I really enjoy watching it.

Mar 29, 2006, 12:19 pm
Handbrake is such a great program. When I think about all the time I used to spend with an entire suite of applications trying to rip video from DVDs, I want to cry. I just ripped a 2 hour movie in its original aspect ratio and size into a 487 MB file that plays in Quicktime.

Mar 28, 2006, 12:56 pm
Augusten Burroughs, author of Running with Scissors, is being sued by the real "Dr. Finch" of Western, MA in his memoir. Article from Boston.com

Mar 15, 2006, 6:16 pm
I saw a mother in Target tonight who would make an ideal candidate for an episode of Super Nanny. The kid is ordering her at the top of her lungs to leave the store and she's very calmly saying, "I just need one more thing. We're almost done." I will never be that kind of parent.

Mar 13, 2006, 8:04 pm
Camping could be a lot more fun if I had a Selk'bag.

Mar 8, 2006, 12:04 am
Listen to Crazy Samantha displace her anger about her failed engagement on some radio talk show hosts.

Feb 22, 2006, 8:56 am
Good news! One of my book designs, Exam Prep: Fire Officer I & II, is going to be used as a prop on the Fox TV show Rescue Me in an episode filming this week!

Feb 16, 2006, 14:26 am
This entire month blows so far. I am beside myself.

Jan 24, 2006, 10:03 am
This British Honda commercial really appeals to the music geek in me.

Jan 12, 2006, 10:15 am
Finally! The trailer for Augusten Burroughs's Running with Scissors is available! Looks like a great cast.

Jan 6, 2006, 9:18 am
I heart Craigslist. It's going to become my new hobby. What a great way to get rid of things I don't want anymore.

Dec 8, 2005, 15:55 pm
McSweeney's has a collection of letters to the president. I really like the ones from an eighth grade class in North Carolina. "Why do terrorists want to kill you so much? -Apr Tew, who flirts."

Dec 1, 2005, 11:45 am
Fun link for the day: extremeironing.com

Nov 30, 2005, 4:46 pm
Anda's dog got his own blog.

Nov 17, 2005, 2:45 am
I decided that since my new chipmunk has a zip code, he might as well have a blog, so you can read about our recent escapades at http://catchingporky.blogspot.com

Nov 14, 2005, 8:46 pm
I need an iPod Video now. I just figured out that by using Handbrake, I can rip my DVDs into small mp4 movies that are playable in iTunes and on the iPod. I need I need.

Nov 3, 2005, 1:30 am
Why won't Quark let me permanantly set my measurement units preference to inches rather than picas? That's so annoying. Who uses picas when all the printer templates come in inches?

Oct 3, 2005, 10:52 am

Sep 21, 2005, 8:57 am
Cool. Post-it note wall art - large-scale! I think we're going to take a crack at something like this at work in the glass conference room.

Sep 8, 2005, 11:21 am
The folks at lomography.com rock! I lost my set of colored flash filters for my lomo while I was in Sweden, and they're sending me a replacement set free of charge. That is so cool. :)

Aug 26, 2005, 10:44 pm
I learned that I must use a flash with my lomo even outdoors when the sun is out. What a difference it makes - at least for Fuji Provia film. Otherwise, it's ALL GREEN!

Aug 23, 2005, 9:47 pm
Cool. Keir O'Donnell is making it big in the movies now with a part in Wedding Crashers among others.

Aug 17, 2005, 10:21 am
I very much liked the Lars Englund exhibit at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. This museum has its entire collection online. Some other interesting links I found when shopping in Sweden were: Granit and Ordning-Reda

Aug 16, 2005, 5:02 pm
I was reminded of the site Strindberg and Helium after visiting Aug Strindberg's apartment in Stockholm last week.

Aug 5, 2005, 12:53 pm
Not long now. I can almost taste the airline food. :) I'm going to see beautiful things and not think about work for a week. What could be better?

Aug 1, 2005, 10:20 am
Beautiful weekend for hiking up in the White Mountains! Walked out to Franconia Falls and went down a natural waterslide in the rocks.

Jul 18, 2005, 10:00 am
Another year older. Since the treadmills at the gym go incrementally by fives when you input your age, it would now be more efficient for me to choose "30" and go down 2, than choose "25" and go up 3. That's depressing.

Jul 16, 2005, 7:11 pm
Harry Potter book 6! Need I say more. I'll be unavailable for awhile.

Jul 11, 2005, 10:38 am
It is official. Sweden tickets are purchased! I'm so excited I could pee.

Jun 30, 2005, 3:25 pm
Matt Gamber's photography - nice large format, great color.

Jun 27, 2005, 8:52 am
Oh Microsoft Word, why dost thou suck so much? You take 10 minutes to start up every morning with your font optimization. I hate you.

Jun 16, 2005, 9:24 am
I hate Powerpoint. It breaks the laws of good design and usability and I would never touch it if I didn't have to for work. What is the point (someone please explain this to me) in saving a "design template" when it doesn't save the background image or my choice of font? WTF?

Jun 15, 2005, 3:39 pm
Daily events this week have left me disenchanted with certain aspects of my job. It could be a lot worse. I know because of the comfort I find in this web site: Clientcopia

Jun 14, 2005, 2:52 pm
Oh my god people! There is actually a difference between 8.5" x 10.875" and 8.5" x 11" especially when it comes to trim size and sending files to a printer!!!!! Is today over yet? I'm having heart palpitations.

Jun 9, 2005, 10:21 am
Chris Strong has some beautiful photos. Interesting site navigation. Not sure how I feel about everything popping up and scrolling so much.

Jun 6, 2005, 10:06 am
I miss playing frisbee. Iced coffee, a sunny day, massive spreads of freshly cut grass, and a 175 gram frisbee.

May 22, 2005, 9:13 pm
I love this: Avenue Q - a Broadway musical with muppets. "The Internet is for Porn" is the best song.

May 12, 2005, 3:26 pm
Nice article about the Nashua Flute Choir in the Nashua Telegraph this week. It features our upcoming concert on Sunday.

The new Nine Inch Nails album, "With Teeth" is so kickass! I can't wait to let it rattle my walls.

Apr 22, 2005, 5:05 pm
Importing tagged text into Quark for automatic styling. Is there an easier way? Will it do character level stylesheets that don't use strictly type styles? Grrr.

Apr 18, 2005, 4:35 pm
I knew there was a reason I like Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor just released the new single for his upcoming album in GarageBand format to Apple users so they can make their own remixes.

Apr 14, 2005, 2:26 pm
Scrolling LED belt buckle. What will they think of next?

Apr 6, 2005, 3:30 pm
Homestarrunner.com has released a 3 DVD set of the Strong Bad emails!

It's that time of year again! I get Red Sox tickets from work!

Mar 25, 2005, 11:13 pm
Thank you Todd! My Airport Express is now working beautifully and streaming music to my living room stereo!

Mar 23, 2005, 11:30 pm
Very helpful info when trying to join a new Airport Express with an existing Linksys wireless router network via an ethernet cable. Couldn't seem to get the express to show up more than once in the admin panel. Hard reset worked wonders: Restore to factory defaults: switch off Airport Express. Press the reset button. Turn on the Airport Express while keeping the reset button pressed. After about 10 seconds, the LED on the Airport Express will blink four times. Release the reset button and wait for 90 seconds.

Note to self: never use spray mount to create a display and then leave that display in your car overnight. That's bad news bears.

Mar 7, 2005, 10:59 pm
I might be a little drunk.

Mar 2, 2005, 1:11 pm
One of my covers: Understanding the Work of Nurse Theorists: A Creative Beginning just won best cover in the category "Covers: College" in this year's Bookbuilders of Boston New England Book Show and will be displayed at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston on Mar 30th.

Feb 10, 2005, 4:28 pm
I want to forget that today ever happened.

Feb 8, 2005, 1:43 pm
Cheap cheap printing at GangRunDirect.com". It makes me want to get my own business cards.

Feb 6, 2005, 11:52 pm
I guess I should be flattered that a web design company loves my design so much they stole it for themselves. Look familiar?

Jan 26, 2005, 1:00 pm

Someday the children of this focus group will have bad things to say about our XBox and PS2 games of today. "And because people were stupid and like addictive games. People were like, "Wow-such good graphics! I mean, they got a dot with a key. Woooh!" In 15 years it, will be "People were easily amused, and liked to blow up gangs with tanks that fall out of the sky. I mean, they got a flame-thrower and a chainsaw. Whoo-hoo!"

I had the weirdest dream last night that I had a pet turtle I forgot to feed. I went looking for it wondering if I'd find it dead or alive because I couldn't remember the last time I fed it. I found it alive, put it in a big rubbermaid container with some fruit and vegetables, left it overnight, and came back to find it floating happily in its own urine. Yeah. What does that mean?

On an entirely different note, I found a violin teacher in Lexington! I start in Jun! I can hardly wait. Over are the days of competing for chairs on flute when I could just practice my ass off and maybe sit somewhere in the 2nd violin section!

I had completely forgotten that I had applied to be part of the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust Litigation last year sometime. If you purchased CDs anytime between 1995 and 2000 (and who hasn't?), then you were entitled to add your name to the settlement group. I got a check in the mail yesterday for my portion of the settlement! A grand total of $13.86! Nice.

My 23" Apple Cinema Display arrived at work this morning. It's insanely huge. It's like looking out an actual window at the landscape before me (I set my desktop background to a photo of a marsh in Concord, MA). So crisp, so bright.....I love it so much I would marry it!

Jan 3, 2004, 5:53 pm
I'm going to try cross-processing some lomo film. Note: E-6 in C-41 processing. See if Harvard Camera will do that. Possibly Vermont Color?

Dec 30, 2003, 6:36 pm
I am having a great time with my Lomo. I've been working on my lomohome and I've uploaded pictures from 4 rolls of film so far (including one from my Holga). It's cool to see what other people use their cameras for as well.

Dec 16, 2003, 10:54 am
I built my own lomohome today. I only scanned in a few photos from my first roll so I'll fill in the blanks later.

Dec 9, 2003, 3:37 pm
Note to self: must change my approach to dealing with the stresses of work. Communication with others about deadline concerns could be more positive and proactive. Started to wonder today when observing, "Do I do that too?"

Dec 2, 2003, 9:28 am
My Lomo LC-A arrived yesterday along with my color flash! I'm about 1/3 of the way through my first roll of film and I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out. I wasn't sure at first if the film was winding properly inside the camera. It seemed a bit slack after I closed the door. I had already advanced it several frames to make sure it was catching the teeth. Seems fine now.

I think I've decided I want a Lomo camera for x-mas. My Holga is cool, this one will take 35mm film and has an auto exposure mode. I can get a color flash for it too. Another cool lomo page.

Nov 21, 2003, 2:20 pm
Really cool lomography site: lomography.com

Nov 21, 2003, 1:19 pm
istockpro.com has a feature that lets you browse images by color scheme. Nice. It would be perfect for those times when an entire cover has been designed, and then right before it goes to press, someone decides they want a different image.

Where are the freaking indexed colors hiding? I HATE making PDFs of documents that include other people's Illustrator EPS files. You never know what kinds of surprises are left in them.

Nov 4, 2003, 1:23 pm
I hate preflight errors I can't explain.

Nov 3, 2003, 3:34 pm
It's pretty bad when you do a search for yourself on Google and the name and title of one of your sites comes up, but it's not your site. This freak took my graphics and HTML, but never took my name out of the title tag. His resume talks about how he was reponsible for creating original content for MTV web sites and here he can't even create anything original on his own home page.

Oct 31, 2003, 5:49 pm
I'm scanning my first roll of Holga film as I type! Another good resource: holgacentral.com

Oct 31, 2003, 9:53 am
I got my first roll of Holga film back yesterday. I only had a light leak on 1 photo (I'm actually kind of disappointed there weren't more) and overlap on the first 2 frames since I wasn't sure where the film began. I guess the cardboard under the spool works well for tension. Some people recommend putting cardboard under both spools, so maybe I'll try that next time. I'm hoping to shoot this weekend without the 4.5 x 6 insert.

Oct 30, 2003, 3:17 pm
I hate illustrator! I create these great complicated info graphics in 2 colors for 2 different cover designs and I have no idea that using transparency with spot colors doesn't work when you go to render out EPS files to import into Quark. It converts all the colors to CMYK instead of 100% values and blends of the 2 spot colors. I could spend all day copying and pasting paths into photoshop and making complicated DCS files. Uggg. Starting over now.

I wish all of the news sources would stop posting photos of the planes crashing into the WTC. I'm glad I'm not home to be watching TV, because I don't think I could stand to see the video footage again. CNN has a particularly chilling interactive timeline on their web site. They shouldn't call it "America Remembers" because the things they talk about are things I and probably the rest of America would rather forget. The quotes at the beginning of each animation are actually sickening. I can understand now why there's a news article today claiming that New Yorkers are taking more antidepressants.

We went to New York City on Thursday! We went to The Guggenheim but it was closed, so we walked through Central Park and went to The Met instead. We also saw the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and Times Square. Near the end of our day, we walked through the crowd waiting outside the MTV Video Music Awards and I caught a glimpse of the infamous red carpet!

Had a very exciting weekend! Jen and I camped out at Barnes and Noble Friday night to get our copies of Harry Potter 5 at midnight. There were hundreds of people there and Channel 5 was taping. Jen was so excited to start reading that she let me drive her car back to Stoughton - yes, my first time driving stick on the road and I did beautifully! No stalls but a couple of scary hill starts.

Jun 20, 2003, 11:31 am
